EVENT DETAILS CONFIRMATION OF SPACE An initial non-refundable deposit of twenty-five percent (25%) of the contract minimum is required to confirm your date along with the signed contract. The remaining balance will be collected in full according to your contracted deposit timeline. GUEST ROOM ACCOMMODATIONS Room block options and discounted rates may be available for your guests to enjoy during your celebration. Please discuss the options with your Catering Sales Executive. FOOD & BEVERAGE MINIMUM The food & beverage minimum is not an estimate of charges; it is the minimum amount required based upon the number of guest rooms and event space contracted. MENUS Menu prices are confirmed at time of contract signing, unless specified otherwise. We are happy to design custom menus if you have specific goals in mind. Our chef strives to serve locally grown produce. Choice of vegetable accompaniments will be prepared considering the season and regional availability, in partnership with California farmers. For plated meals, offering your guests a choice of up to two entrees, plus a vegetarian option (quantities of each entrée guaranteed five days in advance; guests must have individual place cards denoting entrée selections). The per guest price for all meals will be based on the higher-priced entrée. SERVICE CHARGE, SALES TAX, FOOD & BEVERAGE, ROOM RENTAL, AUDIO VISUAL Your food and beverage are quoted exclusive of 27% taxable service charge (18% F&B Staff Charge and a 9% House Charge), and these fees will be added to your total. The 18% Staff Charges are distributed in its entirety to employees providing the service. The 9% House Charge on F&B is retained entirely by the Hotel. House Charges are used to cover administrative, non-labor costs and are not a tip, gratuity, or service charge for employees. California law states that the service charge is subject to sales tax. (California State Regulation 1603 Subsection F). The F&B Staff Charge, F&B House Charge and/or Room Rental House Charge may increase between the time of this Agreement and the time of the event. The increase may be the result of changing market prices, costs, taxes or other objective factors as determined by the Hotel. EVENT SPACE RENTAL Consistent with California law, the event space rental prices are total prices which include the base price as well as 27% taxable service charge (18% F&B Staff Charge and a 9% House Charge. Price is subject to sales tax. (California State Regulation 1603 Subsection F). LABOR CHARGES Buffet carvers, station attendants, additional food, and cocktail servers are available at a minimum fee of $225 per attendant for each three hour time period. GUARANTEES OF ATTENDANCE Guarantees are required for all catered food and beverage functions. Your minimum revenue guarantee is determined by your catering sales executive at the time of booking your event. This will be considered your minimum financial guarantee, not subject to reduction, for which you will be charged, should less attend. All food & beverage charges will apply to your minimum revenue guarantee with the exception of the staff charge, house charge, sales tax, and any labor fees. Parking, Restaurant Charges and Guest Room Charges do not apply towards the minimum revenue guarantee. Final attendance must be confirmed no later than three (3) business days prior to the event. If a final guarantee is not provided, the expected attendance number on file will serve as the guarantee and is not subject to reduction. Increases to the guarantee may be accepted up to forty-eight (48) hours prior to the event, subject to product availability and a 3% surcharge on menu pricing. The Hotel will prepare seating and meals for up to 3% above the final guaranteed count. Any event without a confirmed menu (7) days prior to the confirmed event will be subject to a 5% increase on retail menu pricing. OUTSIDE FOOD & BEVERAGE All food and beverage, alcoholic or otherwise, must be provided by the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina unless special arrangements are made and authorized in writing as part of the contract. We will make every effort to adjust menus to conform to religious or dietary preferences. Specialty beverages or ethnic foods are to be granted special permission from the hotel event manager. The hotel reserves the right to charge for such services.
